Atlético Morelia vs. Venados, Digi Mart USA News (Michoacán, Mexico): The historic Estadio Morelos will host the second leg of the Liga de Expansión MX quarterfinal between Atlético Morelia and Venados. The home side took the advantage in the first leg after a 2-1 win over the Mérida club.
The first leg began with Venados pressing forward, but the home team’s pressure produced a goal in the 17th minute when Duilio Tejeda opened the scoring for the Michoacán side. Venados took advantage of a play late in the first half, and Josecarlos Van Rankin equalized in the 44th minute.
Both teams appeared headed for a draw that would have left the tie open for the return match, but a red card for Jesús Moreno in the 88th minute changed the game. Alonso Flores scored the winning goal for Morelia in the 99th minute, securing an important victory ahead of a possible advancement to the semifinals.
Morelia appears well placed to reach the next round, but Venados will try to pull off an upset away from home and make the qualification costly. The Yucatán club needs to win by a two-goal margin to advance in the tie.
Kickoff and broadcast: The match is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. Central Mexico time at Estadio Morelos in Michoacán.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2 and AYM Sports, with streaming available on Disney+ Premium.
