GTA 6 Pre-Orders Top 7.7 Million as German Packaging Reveals Download-Only Release

GTA 6 pre-orders and German physical packaging: GTA 6 pre-orders: More than 7.7 million copies have reportedly been pre-ordered ahead of the November 19 release. German packaging photos show a download code instead of a disc, while a poster may be included for all buyers.

GTA 6 pre-orders and German physical packaging, Digi Mart USA News: Few video games are awaited as eagerly as “Grand Theft Auto 6” (GTA 6). More than 7.7 million pre-orders have already been placed, according to the publisher’s report, and the sixth installment of the legendary action series is set to launch on November 19.

Before its release, the game is already generating records and a major wave of hype. First photos of the German retail version have now surfaced, bringing both bad news and good news.

Even people with little interest in computer games are likely to encounter the excitement surrounding GTA. The series has been among the world’s most successful for nearly 30 years.

According to the report, more than one in three gamers in Germany has played a GTA title in the past two years, a top-level figure.

More than 13 years separate GTA 5 and its successor, a period in which the gaming industry has changed fundamentally. Fan expectations are correspondingly high.

Developer Rockstar has already released a preview of the richly detailed action game.

When GTA 5 was released in 2013, it passed the billion-dollar mark within just three days. GTA 6 could surpass that.

According to sales tracker data from the analytics company Sensor Tower, roughly 7.71 million copies have reportedly been pre-ordered so far. That implies estimated revenue of about $751 million, or roughly 650 million euros.

According to a report from “Play3.de,” the first photos of the German packaging of GTA 6 have appeared on Reddit. Those images are likely to disappoint some fans: buyers who purchase the game in a store receive only an online download code.

The packaging clearly states “No disc included.” Players who want to start the game will therefore need an internet connection, a PlayStation account, and a substantial amount of storage space. According to the packaging, the game requires 230 gigabytes, up from the 210 gigabytes previously reported.

Many users will need to clear space on their consoles first.

The bottom of the packaging reads: “Game download code. No disc included.” With this, Rockstar is taking a new approach with GTA 6.

The good news is that the packaging may also contain a collectible poster. MediaMarkt and Saturn showed this in an Instagram post.

The poster is reportedly printed on both sides: the official GTA 6 cover on the front and a well-known artwork featuring a woman in a bikini on the back. According to the X account “Videotech,” citing internal MediaMarkt communications, the poster is to be included not only for pre-orderers but for all buyers.

For fans and collectors, this would be a small consolation for not holding a disc when they unpack the game.

GTA 6 will initially be released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Buyers of the digital version reportedly will be able to begin downloading game files from November 10.

Play will not be possible until the official launch. In Germany, digital access is scheduled to unlock on November 19 at 0:00 CET.
