Barcelona possible starting lineup against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano, Digi Mart USA News: Rodri will miss Barcelona’s visit to the Metropolitano tonight after suffering a right biceps femoris injury against Aston Villa, a significant absence for the side.
Coach Hansi Flick must now find a replacement to face Atletico Madrid. Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal are the two leading candidates to fill the role, though Flick has not yet revealed who will start.
“I have not yet decided if (De Jong) will start. It is good to think about it overnight.
We know his quality, but also Bernal’s. He did very well in the last match and I am liking him a lot,” Flick said.
He did not mention Gavi as an option in the double pivot.
Flick has also received positive news on two other players. He confirmed that both Eric Garcia and Christensen will be in the squad, and Eric Garcia has a real chance of starting.
Everything points to Flick returning to his preferred back line, with Eric Garcia on the right, Cubarsi and Gerard Martin in the center, and Cancelo on the left. Bernal or De Jong would partner Pedri in midfield.
The attack is expected to feature Lamine, Fermin and Gordon, with Raphinha as the most advanced player.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta will travel to Madrid today with the squad. Yesterday he visited the Ciutat Esportiva to encourage the players ahead of what is considered a crucial match.
He reiterated his confidence in the group and also spoke with Flick and Deco, the club’s sporting director.
