In the opening episode, she visits the picturesque Kangaroo Island, which suffered horribly in the bushfires of 2019-20.

The program asks how the island’s astonishing array of wildlife is bouncing back. Dooley visits a couple who, feeling “a bit lost” after the fires, set up a refuge for orphaned baby kangaroos.

Also on tonight’s television listings, the children’s adaptation of Eric Morecambe’s book reaches its finale, with young prince Valentine facing a high-stakes decision before his coming-of-age vampire ceremony. The Guardian’s listings also note Blue Planet III’s continued look at ocean life, including rough-toothed dolphins and the mola mola, and Premier League and Nations Championship rugby fixtures.
