Hoy No Circula restrictions for Friday, November 6, 2026 in Mexico City and the Mexico City metropolitan area, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City, Mexico): Before leaving home this Friday, November 6, 2026, drivers should check their license plates and verification hologram. The Hoy No Circula program keeps its usual restrictions in Mexico City (CDMX) and the Mexico City metropolitan area, so some drivers must leave their vehicles parked to avoid penalties.
According to the calendar of the Secretariat of the Environment (Sedema), the measure applies to cars with the blue sticker, plates ending in 9 and 0, and verification holograms 1 and 2. The restriction begins at 5:00 a.m.
and ends at 10:00 p.m., so these vehicles may return to circulation after that time, provided no extraordinary measures are announced.
As of the consultation made on Thursday, November 5, authorities were not reporting an active environmental contingency, so the Doble Hoy No Circula was not planned to apply. During this Friday, vehicles with the characteristics listed above must suspend circulation.
This means that if your car has hologram 1 or 2 and its plates end in one of these numbers, you may not use it during the 17-hour restriction.
The provision applies regardless of whether the vehicle is registered in the capital or in one of the municipalities of the State of Mexico where the program operates. Not all cars are required to rest.
Under normal program conditions, the following may circulate:
These exceptions may change if the Metropolitan Environmental Commission (CAMe) activates an environmental contingency and establishes additional restrictions. Drivers visiting Mexico City or the State of Mexico with out-of-state plates should also take precautions.
Vehicles from entities whose holograms are not recognized within the metropolitan scheme are generally subject to a morning restriction from 5:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. They must also respect the rest day corresponding to their plate ending.
For example, this Friday, out-of-state cars with plates ending in 9 or 0 may not circulate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Vehicles with recognized verifications, applicable holograms or valid permits may face different conditions. The program is in effect in all 16 boroughs of Mexico City, including Gustavo A.
Madero, Iztapalapa, Coyoacán, Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Miguel Hidalgo and Álvaro Obregón. In the State of Mexico, it also operates in 18 conurbated municipalities.
The State of Mexico also applies the program in the metropolitan zones of Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco, with specific provisions for those regions.
Ignoring the restrictions can be costly. In Mexico City, the fine for violating Hoy No Circula ranges from 20 to 30 Units of Measurement and Update (UMA).
With the 2026 daily UMA value of 117.31 pesos, the penalty equals the amounts reflected in the official calculation. In the State of Mexico, different penalties may apply under its current regulations.
Depending on the circumstances, the vehicle could also be taken to a vehicle depot, generating additional costs.
Although the calendar sets out the usual restrictions, circulation conditions may change if air pollution increases. The CAMe is the authority responsible for announcing extraordinary environmental contingency measures in the Mexico City metropolitan area.
Therefore, before leaving this Friday, November 6, drivers are advised to review official communications from Sedema, CAMe and State of Mexico environmental authorities, especially if a deterioration in air quality is reported.
Reminder: if your car has a blue sticker, plates ending in 9 or 0, and hologram 1 or 2, the most convenient option is to plan your trips using public transportation or to find another mobility alternative during the restriction period.
