Singapore Airlines next-generation cabin products unveiling, Digi Mart USA News (Singapore): Singapore Airlines is holding a long-awaited launch event today at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre to unveil its next-generation seats and cabin experience. The airline had originally planned to introduce the new First and Business Class seats on the Boeing 777-9 around 2021, but COVID-19 and Boeing’s production problems repeatedly delayed that timeline.

In November 2024, Singapore Airlines announced that it would instead introduce the new First and Business Class on retrofitted Airbus A350-900 aircraft. According to a publisher report, the targeted second-quarter 2026 introduction was then affected by supply chain and certification issues, pushing the start into the first quarter of 2027.

The publisher reports that rival carriers have meanwhile introduced business class suites with privacy doors and advanced in-flight technology. Competitors cited in the report include ANA, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Qatar Airways and STARLUX, as well as United Airlines, whose Polaris 2.0 began flying in April 2026.

According to the publisher, the new Business Class seat will recline directly into a flat bed without a manual flip-over, and will include a sliding privacy door in a staggered 1-2-1 layout. Business Class seats are described as offering a 22-inch 4K OLED screen, USB-C and wireless charging, and Bluetooth audio connectivity.

The new First Class suite is described as having three windows, French doors, electrically operated blinds, an ottoman for companion dining, and a 32-inch 4K OLED screen. The publisher also reports that Premium Economy will offer screens of up to 16 inches, while Economy will receive a 13-inch 4K screen on selected Boeing 777-9 aircraft.

The publisher reports that Premium Economy and Economy Class on the retrofitted A350 aircraft will be only “refreshed,” with an updated KrisWorld system and new upholstery, and without 4K screens, Bluetooth or USB-C ports. The report notes that these cabins will therefore lack features already offered by some rivals.

According to the publisher, the event will begin at 1:15 p.m. local time with opening remarks by Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong, with the media embargo lifting at 1:30 p.m.

Hands-on media access is scheduled to run until 5:30 p.m., covering the new cabin products, enhanced KrisWorld entertainment, refreshed food and beverage offerings, and new amenity kits.
