Antonio Mohamed America titles remark, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Antonio Mohamed launched another jab against América after saying he holds no grudge against the club, while recalling the four titles “it has given him.” The remarks come amid continuing controversy over his earlier comments about América’s “10 foreigners” and the change of number by Ícaro da Conceição in the same tournament.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Argentine coach said he had no problem with the club, though he did so in a peculiar way. “I am a very direct person, I have no interest.
I have nothing against América, on the contrary, I am eternally grateful to that club that gave me four titles. Imagine if I am not grateful, I always will be,” he said, without making any gesture that might betray his true feelings.
Mohamed’s four titles at América include the Apertura 2014, won at the expense of Tigres, the same tournament in which he delivered his iconic line, “I leave you the Cup and I take my dignity.” He also counts three titles won against the Azulcremas as coach of other teams. The first is the Liga title in the Apertura 2019, when Rayados won the championship on penalties over the Águilas.
The other two came while he was in charge of Toluca: the Clausura 2025 title, followed by the Campeón de Campeones.
