Erna Solberg husband share trades crisis memoir, Digi Mart USA News: Norway’s former prime minister Erna Solberg calls the affair surrounding her husband’s share trades “the biggest crisis in our marriage ever” in a new book. The account appears in her new biography “Mit liv som Erna” (My Life as Erna), published by Kagge and written in cooperation with Dagbladet editor-in-chief Gunnar Stavrum, as reported by E24.

The book focuses on Solberg and the period in autumn 2023, when the Norwegian business media outlet E24 revealed that her husband, Sindre Finnes, had secretly traded shares while she was prime minister. Solberg does not hide that she experienced the case as “a major betrayal,” but she says a separation was never an option, partly because of the couple’s two shared children.

The case began in August 2023, when E24 uncovered that Sindre Finnes traded shares in about 20 companies. On September 8, three days before the municipal elections, Solberg acknowledged that she had not been kept continuously informed.

Only four days after the election did she present a list of 3,640 trades made during her time in office, including trades in companies such as Norsk Hydro, Nekkar and Kongsberg Gruppen. The late disclosure drew harsh criticism.

Among the transactions were bets on falling prices on the Oslo Stock Exchange through “bear products” shortly before the government announced COVID-19 restrictions in September 2020. In November 2023, Solberg acknowledged during a hearing in the Storting, Norway’s parliament, that she had been disqualified from handling several cases.

The same month, Norway’s economic crime unit, Økokrim, declined to open an investigation, saying there was no reasonable ground to examine whether criminal offenses had occurred.

Solberg served as prime minister from 2013 to 2021 and led the Conservative Party (Høyre) for 22 years, until Ine Eriksen Søreide took over the post in February of this year.
