Charlotte shower and storm forecast, Digi Mart USA News (Charlotte, North Carolina): Charlotte has received just under a half-inch of rain since early Wednesday, snapping three weeks of dry weather. Foothill and mountain communities have seen heavier rain, with some spots recording over two inches so far.
Rain chances will continue Thursday night into Friday before the forecast dries out in time for the weekend. Once Thursday morning’s rain moved away, breaks in the cloud cover allowed temperatures to warm into the mid to upper 70s.
That warm, muggy air will fuel additional off-and-on showers overnight, and a few showers could develop into thunderstorms.
Friday morning will bring another chance of thunderstorms along and southeast of I-85. While the timing and overall setup do not favor a significant severe weather threat, the First Alert Weather team will continue monitoring the latest trends.
The most likely range of additional rainfall totals is one-tenth of an inch to one-quarter inch, with closer to a half-inch in the Sandhills. Once the rain moves out, cooler air will settle in for the weekend.
Highs on Saturday and Sunday will reach the mid to upper 60s, with overnight lows mostly in the 40s. Dry weather will continue into the first half of next week, with temperatures slightly above average, reaching the upper 60s and low 70s.
Another cool-down looks likely toward the end of next week.
