Ozone pollution and Conseil national de l’air recommendations, Digi Mart USA News: The Conseil national de l’air (CNA) has published its report “State of Knowledge on Ozone and Recommendations,” which examines the health, environmental and climate challenges posed by this air pollutant and ways to reduce it more effectively.
Atmo France actively contributed to the work, with the participation of Dominique Robin, director of AtmoSud, and Jacques Patris, president of Atmo Hauts-de-France.
The report highlights several essential findings. In response, the CNA recommends strengthening research, monitoring and forecasting tools to better understand how ozone forms and how it affects people and the environment.
The council also calls for prompt action on emissions of the pollutants that lead to ozone formation. It recommends adapting measures to local conditions and better coordinating air quality policies with efforts to fight climate change, particularly during periods of heat.
The report further recommends ozone plans at least at the regional scale, along with stronger public information and awareness efforts for citizens and decision-makers.
These recommendations come as a new European air quality directive takes effect, strengthening ozone objectives and calling for specific plans to be put in place.
By contributing to this work, Atmo France and its network of regional air quality associations (AASQA) are placing their scientific and territorial expertise at the service of better knowledge and more effective public decisions, for the benefit of health, climate and the environment.
The full scientific findings and recommendations are available in the Conseil national de l’air report on ozone pollution (2026).
