Extra Camp, plays Sarah Stratton in the award-winning series set in the 1980s Cotswolds.

The show is based on the novels by the late Dame Jilly Cooper and explores the glamorous and cutthroat world of British television. Atack said the role has allowed her to return to acting, the field where she began her career at 16 with a part in ITV’s Blue Murder.

Atack rose to fame in 2008 as Charlotte “Big Jugs” Hinchcliffe in E4’s The Inbetweeners. She said the role led to years of typecasting, prompting her to focus on reality television and presenting.

“Different paths took me into different jobs and gave me some amazing opportunities in television, for which I’m incredibly grateful,” she said. “But making that transition back from television into acting isn’t always straightforward.

It can be quite difficult, and sometimes that move isn’t necessarily welcomed.”

She said feeling so embraced and welcomed back into acting has meant an enormous amount to her. Atack described the return to acting as a “dream.”

“It reminds me that this is where my heart is,” she said. “I’m so lucky to have had all those other experiences and opportunities, but this is truly where I belong.”

Rivals features a star-studded cast including David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson and Aidan Turner. The series has been praised for its sharp writing, nostalgic setting and ensemble performances.

The show will return to Disney+ on November 11 with the second batch of its series two episodes, beginning with a three-episode premiere. Episodes will also be available on Hulu in the US.
