Miroslav Klose 1. FC Nürnberg Darmstadt 98 promotion push, Digi Mart USA News (Nürnberg, Germany): SV Darmstadt 98 has zero points and a 1:13 goal record away from home this season, making them a frequent visitor to the table’s lower reaches. However, for 1.

FC Nürnberg, Darmstadt is seen as something of a bogeyman, as the coach acknowledges.

Nürnberg (dpa/lby) – Miroslav Klose has one wish. During the upcoming international break, the coach, like the club’s fans, would like to see 1.

FC Nürnberg in one of the two automatic promotion places in the 2. Bundesliga table.

A win for the second-placed team at home to Darmstadt 98 on Saturday (13:00 CET, Sky) would fulfill that wish.

Klose is motivating not only his players but also the supporters, who are expected to be the twelfth man at the Max-Morlock-Stadion once again. “Things have been very positive in the stadium recently.

That is our trump card,” Klose explained. “We know that we have to set the stadium on fire.

And that is what we want to do on Saturday.”

Darmstadt, sixteenth in the table, appear to be an ideal opponent based on their away record. They have played four away matches and lost all four, scoring one goal and conceding thirteen, making them the league’s worst away team.

Klose, however, knows that Nürnberg have historically struggled against the Lilien. “Absolutely.

I don’t want to call them a bogey team. We have played good games against Darmstadt, but we have often lost, sometimes unluckily,” he said.

Darmstadt have won four of their last six matches at the Max-Morlock-Stadion and have picked up points in ten of their last twelve games at the Valznerweiher.

Even after the recent win at St. Pauli, Klose said the team must keep improving its work without the ball and its defending.

Constant pressure on the opponent combined with attacking enthusiasm is intended to be the formula for success.

“I have full confidence in the lads who start,” Klose said. The same applies to the man selected this week as sporting director and successor to Joti Chatzialexiou, who is leaving for Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The team has quality. Otherwise we would not be in second place.

And alongside the results, we have also delivered matches after which people went home satisfied,” said Dieter Frey.

“I sense a hunger in the squad not to let up and to keep getting better,” said Frey, the club’s previous youth head at FCN. “I am very confident we can have a good season, but I am not a fan of looking too far into the future,” added the former professional.

“For us, it is now about taking three points against Darmstadt,” warned the 54-year-old. Frey, like Klose, intends to enjoy checking the table daily until the next match in two weeks.
