Newcastle United predicted lineup vs Fulham, Digi Mart USA News: Newcastle United travel to Craven Cottage this weekend to face Fulham in a game where three points feels imperative before the international break begins.
After the Everton game midweek, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jaissle change things up, but his comments in the wake of that defeat also suggest the same side could be trusted again. Either way, the Magpies are in a difficult position, and this could be the most important team selection of the German’s tenure so far.
Hornicek might have made a mistake against Everton, but calls on social media suggesting he should be dropped for Pope are misguided. Newcastle would be much worse off without him, and he is expected to remain the undisputed starter against Fulham.
Dedic’s performances have dropped off somewhat in recent weeks, but with Livramento still injured and Miley likely to return to the midfield pool, the Bosnian’s place should be safe. Burn made some notable comments after the Everton game that upset parts of the fanbase, but his experience is expected to be needed in this important away fixture.
Burn and Schar have not had the impact they would have hoped since replacing Thiaw and Botman, but a further change at centre-back seems unlikely during such a volatile period. Schar’s tendency to play long balls may not be helping Newcastle perform as Jaissle requires, and there is a case for bringing Thiaw back, but Schar is expected to continue.
Fab has the experience the side needs and has not been that bad overall, despite a strange moment with instructions midweek. Hall was poor against Everton, but he is expected to start again, partly because Newcastle do not have another recognized left-back and partly because he has been one of the team’s better performers this season.
Nico did not have his best game against Everton, but the author attributes much of that to what was happening around him. The Spaniard needs to get on the ball more and influence matches, but he is likely to start again.
Joelinton is now almost certain to miss out. Although Steur could replace him, the author does not expect Jaissle to change his view that Joelinton and Gonzalez cannot yet play together.
The most plausible option is for Willock to drop deeper as the second midfield player.
Elanga was lively but poor against Everton, and Jacob Murphy’s pace could be useful away from home. Jaissle has confirmed Fernandez-Pardo will return, and with Ramsey suspended, Fernandez-Pardo could be put straight back in if fit, offering both technical ability between the lines and the ability to press high.
The author agrees with calls to give Toure more minutes, but dropping Barnes is not expected. Barnes was one of the Magpies’ most creative threats against Everton and could be considered in the number 10 role, although his goal threat makes him a must-start.
Osula struggled to impact against Everton, receiving little service beyond long balls, but he remains the side’s most potent goalscoring threat when on the pitch.
