Tekirdağ Mayor Candan Yüceer resigns from Yeni Parti, Digi Mart USA News (Tekirdağ, Turkey): Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candan Yüceer announced through a social media statement that he has left Yeni Parti.
Yüceer criticized the handling of the party’s congress process. He said that a provincial congress agenda had been opened for debate over delegate positions while he was ill, and that he found it unacceptable that the congress had not been started because of these debates and that he had not even been listed as a congress delegate.
In his resignation statement, Yüceer emphasized political courtesy and the principle of fellow-traveler loyalty. He said the matter was not limited to a delegate list, but involved the respect owed to people who had worked together for years and the political courtesy owed to an elected metropolitan mayor.
Yüceer argued that personal interests had taken precedence over shared values. He said that the loyalty and fellow-traveler relationship he expected were not what had occurred.
Following his decision to leave the party, Yüceer said he would focus on the problems of Tekirdağ. He said residents expect infrastructure, road, water and social support services, and stated, “My priority is not political settlements but service to Tekirdağ.” He said he would continue his work as Tekirdağ Metropolitan Mayor.
Yüceer had resigned from the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in August 2026 and joined Yeni Parti, a decision he had described as one of the most difficult of his life amid a judicial process involving CHP leadership. He joined Yeni Parti on August 24, and his departure from the party about two and a half months later marks his second party change in that period.
