El Grande Americano, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): Lucha libre also had its moment in the spotlight during the NBA Mexico City Game 2026. While the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers contested the highly anticipated matchup at Arena Ciudad de Mexico, El Grande Americano appeared during the first quarter as part of a segment that energized the crowd.
The AAA mega champion entered the court as part of the show and shared a playful interaction with the mascots of both teams. The appearance placed Mexican wrestling and American basketball side by side before thousands of fans.
The wrestler’s presence was not accidental. The Pacers had previously announced an international collaboration with WWE and AAA for their visit to Mexico, which included El Grande Americano’s participation along with various wrestling-related activations involving the Indiana team.
The moment also served to showcase one of the most important championships in Mexican lucha libre. El Grande Americano appeared with the AAA Mega Championship, a title he recently retained against Dominik Mysterio during Héroes Inmortales.
The gladiator’s visit to the NBA included another notable element. After taking part in the segment, El Grande Americano spoke about what it meant to be part of an event of this scale in Mexico and used the occasion to congratulate Penta, who had a historic night of his own that same Saturday.
Hours earlier in Saudi Arabia, Penta and Je’Von Evans defeated The Vision, made up of Bron Breakker and Austin Theory, to become the new WWE World Tag Team Champions. For the Mexican star, it is another significant championship during his time with the American company.
While the NBA brought energy to Arena CDMX with another edition of its game in Mexico, lucha libre also found a place within the spectacle. El Grande Americano brought AAA’s presence to an afternoon in which sport once again demonstrated that it can cross borders and disciplines.
For the mega champion, the day closed with a special congratulation for another Mexican who, on the other side of the world, had just added a new title to his career.
