Nationwide strike call in French National Education sector on Tuesday, November 10, Digi Mart USA News (France): A new strike call has been issued across France’s National Education sector for next Tuesday, November 10. “Everyone on strike, in the demonstrations and gatherings,” the joint union committee for National Education, Higher Education and Research staff urged in a statement published Saturday, November 7.
The youth union committee and regional union bodies, including CGT, FSU, FO, Sud, Solidaires and Unsa, have called on members to “amplify the mobilization by continuing to put the government under pressure.” The unions say they are still waiting for a government response on “salaries and careers” for education personnel.
They also denounced what they called an “unacceptable authoritarian response,” which they say “has gone a step further since Monday” with “the breaking of university franchises and abusive administrative closures of campuses, decided without a regulatory framework.”
This new day of mobilization in National Education will take place after a social conference held Monday by the Prime Minister with unions and employers, and after a new day of protest on Saturday against the high cost of living.
