Joan Garcia Barcelona record against Atletico Madrid, Digi Mart USA News: While Barcelona’s overall record against Atletico Madrid in recent years remains decent, the Catalans have fallen short against Diego Simeone’s men in high-stakes games recently.
Last season, Barcelona suffered against Los Rojiblancos in both the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey, with Atletico Madrid finding the right formula against their high line. The defence struggled on more than one occasion, leading to several ugly scorelines for goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
According to a recent MARCA report, Atletico Madrid have been Garcia’s biggest nightmare in recent times. Over his career so far, Garcia has played against Atletico Madrid eight times, six times with Barcelona and twice with Espanyol, conceding ten times in those matches.
The 4-0 defeat in the Copa del Rey semifinal last season was the single biggest factor behind those numbers, and the goalkeeper is expected to be determined to turn things around in the upcoming fixture.
Hansi Flick’s side have been prolific in attack, but their defensive numbers have not been as promising as the manager would have hoped. Barcelona have conceded twelve goals in eleven La Liga games so far, and the coach is not satisfied with the team’s defensive numbers.
Atletico Madrid boast La Liga’s best defensive record, with just eight goals conceded so far, setting up a major challenge for Barcelona. All eyes will be on Garcia to see whether he can move past the ghosts of the past and deliver a strong performance in what promises to be a high-octane game at the Metropolitano.
