Nicolas Cage The Brand neo-Nazi thriller, Digi Mart USA News: Nicolas Cage is set to play a formidable neo-Nazi gang leader in The Brand, a criminal thriller inspired by a true story. He will be joined by two actors well known to fans of television series: Alexander Ludwig, known for Vikings, and Gabriel Basso, known for The Night Agent.

According to the French publication AlloCiné, which cites Filmstarts, the film is inspired by a 2004 article published in The New Yorker by investigative journalist David Grann. The film will focus on the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist criminal organization that originated in American prisons.

In The Brand, Cage will play Carter Briggs, a feared Aryan Brotherhood leader inside San Quentin prison in California. Behind bars, he takes a young inmate, Taylor Hartmann, played by Ludwig, under his wing.

When authorities decide to disperse the organization’s members among different prisons across the United States to weaken its influence, the strategy backfires. Instead of ending the gang’s activities, the transfers help expand its criminal network and spread its racist ideology beyond its original strongholds.

As events unfold, Taylor rises through the ranks of the violent organization and gains enough power to envision a future with Lilly, the woman he loves, played by Maria Bakalova. However, he is soon torn between his desire to rebuild his life and his loyalty to Carter, who helped him gain a place in this ruthless world.

Gabriel Basso, known for his role as Peter Sutherland in the Netflix series The Night Agent, is also part of the cast. The exact nature of his character has not yet been specified.

Vincent Grashaw, director of Gangland, will direct the film, and Alessandro Camon, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Messenger, is writing the screenplay and producing alongside Cage.

According to Deadline, preproduction is expected to begin in early 2027. No official release date has been announced, although a theatrical release in 2028 remains possible.
