According to the report, the crash occurred Saturday evening, November 7, 2026, shortly after 9:08 p.m. A 24-year-old man from Landshut was driving a BMW M4 at high speed in the direction of Munich.
At the Moosburg-Nord junction, a 63-year-old man from the greater Munich area was merging onto the highway in an Audi Q3.
While still on the acceleration lane, the Audi was struck from behind by the approaching BMW. The impact sent both vehicles roughly 200 meters before they came to a stop at the end of the acceleration lane.
Rescue workers had to extract the 63-year-old Audi driver from his vehicle. He was taken to the Klinikum Freising hospital, where he died shortly afterward from his severe injuries.
The 24-year-old BMW driver sustained minor injuries.
Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17 and also from Landshut, were in the BMW and were taken to the Klinikum Achdorf hospital on suspicion of a traumatic brain injury. Both vehicles were written off, and police estimate the total damage at about 140,000 euros, with 90,000 euros to the BMW and 50,000 euros to the Audi.
After consulting the Landshut public prosecutor’s office, an expert was called to the scene to prepare an accident analysis and technical report. An investigation was opened against the 24-year-old driver on suspicion of a prohibited motor vehicle race, and his driver’s license was seized.
Because of extensive recovery, rescue and police work, the A92 toward Munich at the Moosburg-Nord junction was fully closed for about eight hours. The report notes that another fatal rear-end collision had occurred on this highway section only a few weeks earlier.
