Atlético Madrid director Mateu Alemany on Julián and Barcelona, Digi Mart USA News: Mateu Alemany spoke to Movistar reporters ahead of the match between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. The Atlético professional football director assessed his team’s current form and reviewed relations between the two clubs after a turbulent summer marked by the Julián case.
On LaLiga, Alemany said the pace of the competition is very demanding, with projected totals of 97 or 98 points. “From there, what matters is winning, winning and winning again.
Whoever wants to be champion will have to do it that way.”
Asked about Barcelona’s recent Bayern result, Alemany said the competitions are different. “Tuesday’s match happened and that’s it.
The game against Barcelona is at the highest level, they are one of the best teams in Europe.” He noted that the two clubs are two points apart, “so it is almost a six-point match.”
On Julián, Alemany said he has been in very good shape for some time. “He is as he always was.
Julián is already the Julián of old.” Describing relations between the clubs, he said they are “normal, there has been a dinner between the boards and that’s it.”
Looking ahead, Alemany recalled that the teams met six times last year, including in the knockout rounds, which showed how evenly matched and difficult the clubs are. “We have our style and they have theirs, and when mixed together they produce matches that are attractive for spectators.”
