Angèle Metzger death, Digi Mart USA News (Les Pavillons-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis): French actress Angèle Metzger, one of the new faces of French fiction, was found dead on Saturday morning at the foot of a building housing the Centre Communal d’Action Sociale (CCAS) in Les Pavillons-sous-Bois, in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
According to information gathered on site, she appears to have fallen from a staircase or a platform overlooking an underground car park. Emergency services were alerted quickly but could not revive her.
Some personal items were found at the scene, but nothing confirms a deliberate act.
According to information obtained by the publisher, Metzger was seen on video surveillance cameras climbing over a barrier to access the building and go up into an area not open to the public. The Livry-Gargan police station has been tasked with determining the exact circumstances of the incident.
Metzger, who lived in Aulnay-sous-Bois, was 27 years old. She had drawn wide attention for her role in the series “Chair tendre” in 2022, playing Sasha, an intersex character who does not fit traditional categories of “masculine” or “feminine.” The character, a boy before summer who is referred to as “she” at her new high school, was a first for French fiction on a subject that remains taboo, even though intersex people account for about 1.7% of births worldwide.
Broadcast on France 5 and directed by Yaël Langmann and Jérémy Mainguy, the ten-episode series of roughly 25 minutes per episode remains available on france.tv and earned Metzger a revelation award at the Series Mania festival in Lille.
The daughter of actor Stéphane Metzger and director Marie Caldera, Metzger held a master’s degree in philosophy and art history and worked as a visual artist and musician. She also appeared in several short films and auteur features, including “Fotogenico” and the thriller “Drone Games.” She also played the lead role in “Japan,” the latest video by Irish rock band Fontaines D.C., released in October alongside Charlie Heaton of “Stranger Things.”
