Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, Digi Mart USA News: If you’re still having a hard time letting go of Stranger Things, Netflix has released the teaser trailer for its prequel spinoff, Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, arriving on Stranger Things Day, the anniversary of the day Will Byers was kidnapped in 1983.
The announcement is a celebration for the series, but the thirty-second teaser itself offers few details about the show’s plot. The biggest reveal is that the series is set in 1955 in Marion, Nevada.
Based on plot threads from the Stranger Things series finale, the show is expected to explore events before Henry Creel wandered into a cave and came into contact with a mysterious substance that gave him the powers that would turn him into Vecna.
As Variety notes, Other Worlds marks the fourth Stranger Things spinoff. The others include the animated series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 and the stage show Stranger Things: First Shadow, which also explores Vecna’s backstory.
The Duffer brothers are executive producing Other Worlds alongside series writer and showrunner Kate Trefry. Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes and serve as an executive producer alongside Shawn Levy.
Jinny Howe, Netflix Head of Scripted Series, U.S. & Canada, said in a statement that Stranger Things has always belonged to the fans.
She said the company is proud to keep building the world with the Duffers, Trefry, Levy and Wright, and that the show takes viewers to the 1950s with new heroes and the heart, mystery and spectacle of the original series.
Trefry said it was an honor to bring this new chapter to life, describing the project as returning to the horror, wonder and mystery of the flagship series while telling a wholly new story.
The Duffer brothers said they have been dreaming of the project for many years and called its realization surreal and exhilarating. They said the show is still Stranger Things but with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new elements they are not yet allowed to disclose, adding that casting is next.
Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure is set to release sometime in 2028.
