According to DWP guidelines, claimants may receive the disability premium independently, or could additionally qualify for the severe or enhanced disability premium, depending on their eligibility.
Disability premiums are supplementary sums added to existing benefits, and fall into three categories: disability, enhanced disability, and severe disability. Each April, these figures are adjusted in line with inflation, with a rise of 3.5 per cent appearing probable for 2027.
Benefits qualifying for disability premiums include Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), Working Tax Credit with a disability element, Attendance Allowance, Constant Attendance Allowance, War Pensioners Mobility Supplement, Severe Disablement Allowance and Incapacity Benefit.
Beyond these 10 benefits, Employment and Support Allowance is another key benefit to be aware of, bringing the total to 11. Claimants may receive the disability premium independently, or could additionally qualify for the severe or enhanced disability premium if eligible.
