Alix Bouilhaguet disciplinary procedure at France Télévisions, Digi Mart USA News (France): Alix Bouilhaguet is the subject of a disciplinary procedure within France Télévisions. The Franceinfo editorialist was summoned by the group’s information management after acknowledging an error in a commentary devoted to Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
Bouilhaguet was summoned by the information directorate of France Télévisions. The interview took place on Monday, November 2, nearly two weeks after the political editorialist apologized for remarks made on Franceinfo.
“A disciplinary procedure is underway,” the public group confirmed to Le Parisien. The measure being considered by management remains unknown.
The issues stem from several errors broadcast on air. For example, on October 21, the journalist had claimed that Jean-Luc Mélenchon had not clearly condemned the looting of October 17 and the arson of the Limoges town hall.
However, three days earlier on LCI, the leader of La France insoumise had described setting fire to the town hall as a “crime.” “I made a mistake,” the editorialist acknowledged on X before apologizing. According to Le Parisien, she used her meeting with management to place her remarks in context and explain her view of the editorialist’s role.
Two days before her comments about Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Bouilhaguet had already been criticized for attributing part of the looting to young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods. The National Union of Journalists disputed that claim.
In November 2025, Bouilhaguet had also been called into question for remarks made on Questions politiques. On November 9, 2025, facing La France insoumise deputy Manuel Bompard, the journalist had asserted that Zohran Mamdani had taken up the slogan “Globalize the intifada.” The Arcom determined that the mayor of New York had not adopted it and had repeatedly condemned the attacks of October 7, 2023.
Clarifications were published online two days after the interview; on air, the correction came only in the following broadcast, on November 16. The regulator judged this response too late and insufficient, and on April 8, 2026, it issued a formal notice to France Télévisions and Radio France.
Bouilhaguet joined the political department of France 2 in 2001. After three years as a correspondent in the United States, she returned to France 2 in 2013 as deputy head of the political department.
Viewers then saw her on Télématin, where she offered analysis and occasionally conducted interviews for Les 4 Vérités. She later served as editor-in-chief of L’Émission politique before joining Franceinfo in 2020 as a political editorialist.
