Kimi Antonelli Brazilian Grand Prix practice, Digi Mart USA News: Beaten by British driver Lando Norris in the first free practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli responded in the second session by finishing ahead of Norris this time. Max Verstappen completed the podium.
Antonelli, who won his first world championship title last weekend after finishing third at the Mexican Grand Prix, is only in his second Formula 1 season at age 20. He has made clear he intends to win every race he can until the end, whether or not the stakes are real.
Norris had edged Antonelli by 82 thousandths of a second in the first free practice session. In the second session, Antonelli not only topped all of his rivals but also placed Norris second, a result that was itself only slightly quicker than Antonelli’s earlier time that day.
Antonelli, who wore a yellow helmet to honor his idol Ayrton Senna on Senna’s home soil, finished 253 thousandths of a second ahead of Norris. Four-time world champion Max Verstappen completed the podium, 6 thousandths of a second behind Norris, despite steering wheel problems that disrupted his first session and forced him to cut the second one short.
Verstappen was followed by George Russell, with Oscar Piastri rounding out the top five. Lewis Hamilton and his new rival since Mexico, Charles Leclerc, were next, with Leclerc in seventh place after brake problems and a late-session contact with the wall on the approach to the main straight, involving local driver Rafael Camara, who is replacing Esteban Ocon at Haas.
Among French drivers, Isack Hadjar finished ninth, while Pierre Gasly was 14th.
