Hamburg police arrest senior Hells Angels member, Digi Mart USA News (Hamburg, Germany): Police in Hamburg have dealt a significant blow to organized crime after a series of shootings in the city since the summer. In the overnight hours, the special task force Soko Kinesis stopped several cars in the city center, the HafenCity district and St.
Pauli, and multiple suspects were arrested, including a senior member of the Hells Angels.
According to the Bild report, plainclothes officers and customs officials initially stopped several black luxury cars around 10 p.m. on Bugenhagenstraße, following a cash handover.
Bild reported that the club leader was in one of the vehicles.
Abendblatt reported that the man was allegedly carrying a firearm, was detained while seated in his wheelchair, and was then taken away. According to Abendblatt, officers on the scene accused him of, among other things, illegal weapon possession and money laundering.
Five men were arrested on Bugenhagenstraße, and the luxury cars, including a Mercedes S-Class and a BMW X5, were searched.
Shortly afterward, officers stopped additional vehicles on the Reeperbahn and in the HafenCity. According to NDR, two more suspected Hells Angels members were arrested at Sandtorkai, and they too were reportedly armed.
Abendblatt described the raid as a response to the accumulation of shootings in the Hanseatic city since summer. Since August, illegal firearms have reportedly been used ten times.
The most serious incident occurred on September 1, when two men were shot dead on Lagerstraße in St. Pauli and another man was seriously injured.
Police spokesperson Sebastian Born told Bild: “We are pursuing a clear and consistent line against armed criminals. Zero tolerance for carrying illegal weapons in Hamburg!
Anyone who thinks they can move through Hamburg with a weapon without consequences is gravely mistaken. Every check could be the last one before freedom.”
