TreVeyon Henderson medical condition Patriots, Digi Mart USA News (Foxborough): TreVeyon Henderson said Friday that he recently underwent an “unexpected and unusual medical emergency” and was diagnosed with “unexplainable neurological symptoms.”

In a statement posted to Instagram, the Patriots running back explained his medical issues, which have affected his motor skills. A source close to Henderson said he did not suffer a stroke.

“I would like to provide an official statement regarding the medical condition I’ve been experiencing,” he wrote. “Recently, I experienced an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalization for several days.”

He said that during that time he underwent extensive medical testing and evaluation. While the results of his comprehensive testing came back positive and reassuring, he wrote, the cause of his condition remains unknown and unexplainable.

Henderson said he will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists on his recovery, as the symptoms have affected his strength, coordination and some physical functions. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health,” he wrote.

“My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities.”

He thanked his wife for being by his side and said his faith has played a role throughout the process. He also thanked the team, his agent, his medical team, teammates and others who offered prayers and support.

He asked for continued prayers and privacy as he focuses on his health and recovery.

Henderson has some history with head trauma. As a college player, he acknowledged he suffered a concussion late in the 2021 season and dealt with its side effects for an extended stretch.

The following year he said he had played through that concussion and still felt its side effects during games.

The 24-year-old did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday this week and was listed on the injury report with an illness. He was first listed on the practice report with an illness on Oct. 29 and missed last Sunday’s game in Miami.

In his second season with the Patriots, the former second-round pick out of Ohio State has had a diminished role, with 203 yards on 52 carries and one rushing touchdown, as well as five catches for 45 yards. His last game came against the Bears on Oct. 22, when he had three carries for 9 yards.
