Santos FC news, Digi Mart USA News: Santos has a new concern heading into the final stretch of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Argentine striker Álvaro Barreal suffered a muscle injury to the back of his right thigh and may not play again this season.

The problem was identified after exams carried out on Wednesday (4).

Barreal felt pain during Santos’ 2-1 defeat to Red Bull Bragantino on Monday (2) in Bragança Paulista. He asked to be substituted in the second half and left the pitch for Rafael Gonzaga.

He was later seen showing discomfort on the bench.

Beyond the injury, Barreal was already suspended for the match against Coritiba, scheduled for November 18, after receiving his third yellow card against Bragantino. Santos does not disclose recovery timelines, but Barreal could miss the remaining four rounds of the Brasileirão.

The absence is a problem for coach Cuca, who had been using the striker out of position at left-back. Gonzalo Escobar, if physically recovered, and Rafael Gonzaga are the options.

The medical department is also monitoring Willian Arão, Lucas Veríssimo and Gabriel Brazão, whose return is expected only in 2027.

Santos has confirmed the contract renewal of defender Ana Alice, who will remain with Sereias da Vila until December 2027. The announcement was made on Thursday (5), securing the defender for another season.

Her previous contract, for the No. 4 shirt, was set to end at the close of this year.

Ana Alice joined the club in January 2025 and quickly earned a place in the defensive lineup. In her first season she played 28 matches and scored four goals.

She was also part of the squad that won the Campeonato Brasileiro Feminino Série A2 title, which secured Santos’ return to the national top flight.

In 2026, the defender kept her importance to the team. Before the renewal was confirmed, she had played 23 matches, with one goal and one assist.

In a social media post, Sereias da Vila highlighted that the defender had accumulated 52 games and five goals since joining the club.

To supporters, Ana Alice expressed satisfaction at continuing to wear the Santos shirt and thanked them for their confidence in her work. The renewal is part of the 2027 planning, which also includes the retention of defender Isa Cardoso, whose contract was extended through the end of next season.

Santos has made official the first professional contract of 16-year-old Argentine striker Ignácio Pereira, considered one of the youth promises. The new deal will run until December 2029.

The board decided to bring the agreement forward because his training contract was set to end on February 28, 2027.

Born in Argentina, Ignácio has lived in Brazil since the age of five and holds dual nationality. He joined Santos in 2023 after spending time in the youth categories of Grêmio and Juventude.

Since then, he has drawn attention for his attacking performances, attracting international interest and prompting the club to secure his future for longer.

The numbers reinforce the young player’s potential. In 2023 he scored 15 goals and finished as top scorer of the Campeonato Paulista Sub-13.

He repeated the feat in the Sub-14 and Sub-15 categories, with ten goals in each edition. In 2026, he scored six goals in 17 matches in the Brasileiro Sub-17, plus four more in the state championship.

Ignácio has also earned three call-ups to Argentina’s youth national teams and has been compared to fellow countryman Julián Álvarez for his playing style. After signing the contract, the striker celebrated the achievement alongside club president Marcelo Teixeira and expressed his desire to reach Santos’ first team and the Argentina national team.
