Liam Lawson 2027 F1 seat, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, New Zealand driver Liam Lawson remains focused on picking up points in the hope that it will be enough to secure him a drive for 2027.

Sitting ninth in the F1 drivers’ championship with 77 points, Lawson has yet to hear whether he will have a seat next year. He is competing with team mate Arvid Lindblad and Red Bull’s F2 driver Nikola Tsolov for two seats.

Lawson said he is wondering what more he can do, but is trying not to overthink the situation. “I just feel like it’s been a very strong year for us, and especially the second half, things have been very, very strong,” he told media, including RacingNews365, in Mexico.

“I think we’ve maximised really a lot this year, especially the second half. So, yeah, I’m not really sure what more is expected.”

He added that he is not dwelling on the seat selection process. “Just because a year ago I thought about it a lot, it was very much in my head, and it just makes you overthink things.”

Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov will take the controls of Lawson’s car for the first free practice session in Mexico City.

Lawson has doubled the number of points he achieved in 2025 and has picked up points in 13 of the 18 rounds. He finished fifth in Monaco and grabbed double points in the recent Singapore round.

“I’m sure looking over the year there’s a lot of things to tidy up. But overall, I feel like I’ve done a very strong season, and I think I would feel like if I wasn’t driving next year, I would feel like there wasn’t much more that I could have done.”

With five rounds remaining, Lawson said he is concentrating on scoring as many points as possible for himself and his team. “I’m just trying to keep that mindset up, trying to score as many points as I can and end the season with as many as I can.”
