France cost-of-living protests November 7, Digi Mart USA News: A new day of demonstrations against the rising cost of living is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, called in particular by the Gilets jaunes coordination and youth organizations. The protests follow a national mobilization held two days earlier, on Thursday.

Preventing violence is a major concern. Before the November 5 rallies, the Interior Ministry had identified risks linked to black bloc groups, looting and damage to businesses.

According to the ministry, Thursday’s marches generally went well, but clashes broke out in several cities.

The provisional toll from Thursday stands at 448 arrests and 53 members of the security forces injured. For Saturday, several prefectures have introduced restrictions.

In Toulon, protest gatherings are banned in part of the city center, while a march remains planned on another route.

These measures aim to prevent further disorder, though whether and how widely such incidents will occur remains uncertain. The national intersyndicale is awaiting Monday’s social conference at Matignon before deciding on the next steps for the movement.
