The event served as the closing of the 2026 Public Health Program, an initiative developed by SwissCham Mexico together with the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and the Swiss Chambers in Latin America. In Mexico’s case, this edition brought together prominent Mexican public officials after they completed their training cycle.

Through discussion panels, authorities from institutions including Dr. Alejandro Vargas Garcia, Head of the Health Planning and Innovation Unit at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), and Dr.

Judith Mendez, Executive Director of the Center for Economic and Budget Research (CIEP), exchanged perspectives alongside representatives of the Swiss industry from SwissCham’s health and innovation committee.

The discussions addressed three areas: effective access to health care (solutions to close access gaps); health investment with efficiency (strategies for medium-term resource planning with efficient investment); and health innovation (collaboration models to accelerate the adoption of innovation in health care).

“Collaboration between the public sector and private enterprise is indispensable in the face of current challenges. From SwissCham, we contribute innovative solutions and share Swiss best practices to strengthen Mexico’s health ecosystem, clearly benefiting patients,” said Dr.

Javier Luna, President of SwissCham’s Health and Innovation Committee and Director of Access and Medical Affairs at Roche Diagnostics.

The day concluded with a ceremonial act led by Senator Emmanuel Reyes Carmona, President of the Senate Economy Committee, and Joao Carapeto, General Manager of Roche Diagnostics, to recognize the efforts of the participating officials and reaffirm joint lines of work.

The meeting underscores the strong bilateral relationship and reinforces SwissCham Mexico’s commitment to the country’s socioeconomic development and health. The closing of the 2026 Public Health Program is part of the celebrations of SwissCham Mexico’s Tenth Anniversary, supported by the companies ABB, Curaden, Sandoz, Adecco, Nestle, Roche Diagnostics, Schindler, Buhler, Clariant, Holcim, JTI, MSC, SICPA, Dormakaba, Eq Corporate, Lindt, Ricola, Sika and Swissmex.
