Marcus Thuram France National Team Recall, Digi Mart USA News: Zinedine Zidane has announced his squad for the last two group-stage matches of the Nations League. France will face Italy on November 12 at San Siro, followed by Turkey on November 15 in Bordeaux.
Marcus Thuram returns to the France squad after being left out of the September gathering. The Inter forward has been in good form with his club, where he has established himself as a leader during Lautaro Martinez’s absence.
At a press conference, Zidane explained the decision: “It’s an opportunity to see him. There was an injury, and this was the chance to have him available.
He knows the France team, and I wanted to see him again.”
Several players competing in Serie A are included in the squad alongside Thuram. They include Mike Maignan of AC Milan, Pierre Kalulu of Juventus, Andy Diouf and Lucas Da Cunha.
Adrien Rabiot, now with Olympique de Marseille, also joins the group.
Randal Kolo Muani is not part of the squad, as there was no room given the competition in attack.
The surprise of the list is Pablo Pagis, a Paris FC forward born in 2002. Zidane explained the selection: “He was called up because we had a small problem with Akliouche, who is slightly injured and cannot join us.
Pablo was on the extended list, and he is a player I want to see in action. He is interesting and different, and it is positive to be able to watch him on this occasion.”
Manu Kone is also not included. The Roma midfielder has been out with a hamstring injury since October 14, during the match lost to Real Madrid.
He is on the road to recovery but is not yet ready to return to the France squad.
