France Mediterranean weather episode and cold snap, November 2026, Digi Mart USA News (France): After a relatively calm start to the week, the weather changes from Wednesday in the Southeast with the arrival of a Mediterranean weather episode. Temperatures remain low across the country until the end of the week, according to a report published by Sud Ouest.
On Wednesday, November 4, rain, sometimes stormy, is expected to move in from the Mediterranean under fairly strong winds and sweep across Languedoc, extending toward Auvergne and Limousin. Météo-France forecasts accumulations of generally 30 to 50 mm from Roussillon to Provence, and locally 70 to 90 mm along the coast of Hérault and Gard.
Under still strong winds, the Mediterranean episode is expected to intensify on Thursday. Accumulations could reach 50 to 70 mm locally, and up to 150 mm in Hérault and Gard.
These rains will fall on soils that are already saturated and risk causing flooding.
Elsewhere, the weather remains dry under a sky with few or variable clouds, and the cold that has settled in since the start of the week will persist. Wednesday is expected to be the coldest day of this early cold spell.
After weak but frequent frosts, afternoon temperatures will struggle to exceed 10 °C in the north and 13 °C in the south, with a feel of cold intensified by northeasterly winds.
There is no major change on Thursday or Friday. While rain remains abundant around the Mediterranean, the cold stays noticeable everywhere.
The report asks whether a radical change next week will bring a return of milder weather.
