Ella Peddemors VfL Wolfsburg Eintracht Frankfurt Frauen Bundesliga, Digi Mart USA News: Ella Peddemors once again played a leading role for her club VfL Wolfsburg. The second-place team in the Frauen Bundesliga won 3-1 away to direct rival Eintracht Frankfurt, with Lieske Carleer also starting.
Dutch international Peddemors scored a brace, two goals in one match, for the third time in three weeks, as the term is used in Germany. With eleven goals, she is the top scorer in the German league.
Within a quarter of an hour, Peddemors put Wolfsburg ahead 0-1 from a pass by Svenja Huth. Eintracht, with Danique Tolhoek in the starting lineup, equalized before halftime.
After Smilla Vallotto made it 1-2 from a pass by Peddemors, the Dutch forward scored her second of the evening from a free kick. She curled the ball into the corner past the keeper and wall, making it 1-3.
“I think we are in a good flow,” Ella Peddemors said after the match to ZDF. “It is always nice to take such a good feeling with you.”
Wolfsburg plays the second leg of the first round of the Europa Cup against Feyenoord next Tuesday. After the 7-0 win in Wolfsburg, that match appears to be a formality.
Next Saturday brings a bigger challenge, when Wolfsburg faces Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich. Bayern won 3-1 against Werder Bremen on Friday evening and is unbeaten in 51 consecutive league matches.
Regina van Eijk made her debut for the German top club. The goalkeeper, who joined from Ajax this summer, got her chance because first-choice keeper Ena Mahmutovic was sent off in the previous league match.
Sophie Proost was absent from Bayern due to illness.
