Susie Wiles steps down as Trump White House chief of staff, Digi Mart USA News: Days after a severe defeat for Republicans in the midterm elections, President Donald Trump is reshaping his closest circle of power at the White House. Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who also led Trump’s presidential campaign, is leaving her post, Trump announced on the Truth Social platform.

Trump said he will appoint Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to the position starting Monday. Miller is associated with the president’s aggressive immigration policy.

In the congressional elections, Republicans lost their majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives to the Democrats. The result is a serious setback for Trump, who had framed the elections as a referendum on his policies.

Since then, power struggles have broken out within the Republican Party over its future direction, and speculation has grown that Trump may restructure his Cabinet and his inner circle in the Oval Office.

Wiles is apparently the first such departure. She is expected to remain in Trump’s political environment.

According to a report by CBS News citing an insider, Wiles submitted her resignation as early as Thursday evening.
