The blockade is affecting thousands of people who have no connection to the protesters’ demands.

According to the source, the landfill’s operation was concessioned 10 years ago to the company Pro Faj Hidro Limpieza, which is held responsible for failing to meet its obligations. The Municipal Government considers it unacceptable that the blockade be maintained and that thousands of citizens continue to be affected in their right to free transit.

Representatives of the protesting citizens were invited to Casa Aguayo but did not attend. State Undersecretary for Political Development Rodolfo Huerta then led a working session in San Pedro Cholula, attended by Municipal President Tonantzin Fernández, where responses to the raised demands were presented.

Work to fill the sinkhole has already begun with state and municipal machinery. Thousands of dump truck trips are estimated, along with material placement and compaction work expected to extend over several weeks.

Extraction of accumulated leachate is also underway with state machinery and will continue.

Regarding the removal of the recycling machine, Undersecretary Huerta committed to starting the corresponding work next week and asked the protesting citizens to lift the blockade. That request was rejected.

The Municipal Government reiterated its willingness to dialogue while prioritizing the right to free transit and the rights of all citizens.
