Zelensky Bremen city key lapel pin, Digi Mart USA News: Jan Böhmermann gave Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a lapel pin bearing the Bremen coat of arms during a ZDF interview, according to a report published by butenunbinnen.de. The presenter handed over the pin at the end of an interview that lasted just over half an hour.
“It is the city key of Bremen,” Böhmermann said. “And if you own it, you hold the key to the world in your hand.”
Zelensky pinned the red-and-white badge to his black jacket and left shortly afterward for a meeting with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD). “If you show this pin to Mr.
Pistorius, it is a conversation starter,” Böhmermann said. He noted that Pistorius’s birthplace, Osnabrück, is only about 100 kilometers from Bremen, and that although Osnabrück is its own federal state, it is surrounded by Lower Saxony.
Images show that Zelensky did wear the pin during his meeting with Pistorius. However, it is not known whether the pin actually served as a conversation starter or whether it was discussed between the two politicians at all.
A request for comment sent to the Federal Ministry of Defence has so far gone unanswered.
The Böhmermann interview with Zelensky is scheduled to air on “ZDF Magazin Royale” on Friday at 11 p.m., but it is already available in the ZDF Mediathek.
