Sylvie Meis stars in new ARD series Die Friesenjunkies, Digi Mart USA News (Berlin): Sylvie Meis and the Belton twin brothers, Oskar and Emil, both 27, showed off tattoos at the Berlin premiere of the new ARD series Die Friesenjunkies. The brothers, who produced the show, had their tattoos done for the production and will keep them permanently.
Meis, 48, took a different approach. Her tattoo bearing the series title is a temporary, stick-on design rather than a permanent one, though the source notes that a look at it is still worthwhile.
The eight-part improvised dramedy premiered Thursday evening at the Delphi Filmpalast in Berlin. Comedian Otto Waalkes, 78, appeared as a surprise guest and performed a live show with songs including “Wir haben Grund zum Feiern” and “Friesenjung.” He also has a small role in one episode.
The series comes from the makers of Die Discounter and is set in the luxurious but somewhat rundown rehab clinic “Isebek” on the island of Sylt. Celebrities, millionaires and ordinary people meet there as they struggle with addiction and personal demons.
Meis plays Madison, a businesswoman dependent on medication. In comments to BILD, she said the role lets her show a side of herself the audience has not seen before.
“I love such challenges: stepping out of my comfort zone, trying something new and surprising myself,” she said.
At the premiere, Meis said: “It was a dream to make such a project. It was the best time of my life.”
All eight episodes are available in the ARD Mediathek from Friday. They air on free TV on November 13 at 11:50 p.m.
and November 14 at 11:40 p.m.
