Edgar Aarón Vázquez Alvarado, 'El General', Cártel Nuevo Imperio: Edgar Aarón Vázquez Alvarado, 'El General', was killed in a federal operation in Naucalpan. U.S. Treasury records describe him as a former security officer tied to the Cártel Nuevo Imperio, with companies in fuel and private security linked to criminal activity.

Edgar Aarón Vázquez Alvarado, ‘El General’, Digi Mart USA News (Naucalpan, State of Mexico): Edgar Aarón Vázquez Alvarado was not only a man sought by Mexican authorities. In records from the U.S.

government, he appeared as a criminal operator with a past in security forces, police contacts and three Mexican fuel and private security companies. Known as ‘El General’ or ‘El Lic,’ he was identified as the founder of the Cártel Nuevo Imperio.

On November 5, 2026, he died during a federal operation in Naucalpan. According to the official account, agents seeking to execute an arrest warrant were attacked with gunfire and returned fire.

Another person also died.

On November 19, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury identified Vázquez as a former member of Mexican law enforcement and linked him to high-level police officials.

The U.S. authority did not specify the agency, years of service or rank.

Therefore, his specific membership in the Federal Police remains uncorroborated by documentary evidence.

According to the Treasury, Vázquez provided protection in Mexico to Ryan James Wedding, accused of leading an international cocaine trafficking organization. He also allegedly used sources within police agencies to locate targets of that organization.

The U.S. publication did not identify those informants or explain how the information circulated.

According to federal authorities, Vázquez founded the Cártel Nuevo Imperio in 2017 together with Óscar Antonio ‘N,’ alias ‘El 300.’ Security reports place the group’s activities in the State of Mexico, Mexico City and Morelos. In Mexquiense territory they mention Huixquilucan, Naucalpan, Tlalnepantla, Coacalco, Atizapán de Zaragoza, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tultitlán and Nicolás Romero.

Investigations link group members to kidnapping, extortion, homicide, dispossession, fuel theft, money laundering and drug trafficking. This combination of activities describes an organization with local revenue sources and transnational connections, although public information does not allow attributing to Vázquez personal direction of each operation.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) identified three companies linked to Vázquez: VRG Energéticos, S.A. de C.V., and Grupo RVG Combustibles, S.A.

de C.V., both incorporated in July 2019 in Atizapán de Zaragoza, and Grupo Ares Imperial, S. de R.L.

de C.V., incorporated in June 2019 in Mexico City and engaged in the private security sector.

OFAC sanctioned them because of their ownership or control relationship with Vázquez. Public documents consulted do not by themselves establish that the companies laundered money or that Grupo Ares Imperial was used to recruit police officers.

Their partners, contracts, clients and permits remain open lines of investigation.

Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic athlete, was charged in the United States with participating in a network that moved cocaine from South America, through Mexico, to the United States and Canada. The U.S.

authority assigned Vázquez a protection and intelligence role within that network.

In Mexico, Omar García Harfuch named Vázquez as the alleged intellectual author of the murder of Milton Morales Figueroa, a commander of the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat, which occurred on July 21, 2024, in Coacalco. The accusation must be attributed to the official: it is not equivalent to a judicial sentence against Vázquez.
