Heavy rain forecast for Germany and neighboring regions with possible November rainfall records, Digi Mart USA News (Germany): Cold, gray November weather is expected to continue through the weekend in Germany, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). Temperatures are forecast to remain low, mostly between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius on Friday, with mostly overcast skies in the northeast and Danube lowlands.
On Saturday, daytime highs are expected to reach only 5 to 10 degrees, and fog could make it feel even colder. Sunday is forecast to be mostly cloudy across much of the country, with light rain possible in the northwest.
After the weekend, a sharp change in weather is expected. The ICON forecast model, jointly developed by the DWD and the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, predicts persistent rain beginning Monday.
Weather expert Dominik Jung told BILD that initial forecasts show 50 to 80 liters per square meter could fall within 48 hours in the Saarland, the Palatinate and Baden. He said that amount is roughly what a normal November typically receives.
The Rhine-Main area could see about 30 to 50 liters, and the Vosges mountains in France could receive as much as 130 liters.
Jung also noted that newer estimates suggest totals of only 20 to 40 liters per square meter are possible. The DWD has not yet issued a severe weather warning.
Jung cautioned that two wet days will not make up for months of dryness, and the YouTube channel Kachelmannwetter said forecasts become less reliable the further ahead they look.
