Fire closes E16 near Norsenga in Kongsvinger, Norway, Digi Mart USA News (Kongsvinger, Norway): The E16 highway at Norsenga in Kongsvinger has been closed due to a fire at Lunderbye Nor, according to police.

Emergency services are advising residents in the area to keep their windows closed and avoid the smoke, police reported.

Operations leader Haagen Løvseth of the Innlandet police district said at 11:13 p.m. that the E16 has been temporarily closed because it runs relatively close to the building.

He said the road is expected to remain closed for a couple of hours, and an alternative detour route is available.

Nor Herregård, located by the railway in central Kongsvinger, has a long history. It was built in 1857–58 by master builder Johan Heinrich Günther Schüssler as the main residence of estate owner Arne Lunderbye and is also known as Lunderbye Nor.

The main building has been threatened with demolition several times until the builder’s great-grandchild, together with others, saved it and restored it to its former splendor.

The historic manor house was recently sold at a forced sale for 8.75 million (Norwegian kroner).
