Neymar Santos CEO appointment and club governance, Digi Mart USA News (Brazil): Neymar da Silva Santos, without the Jr., has been named the new CEO of Santos, according to a report from Revista Fórum. The appointment was reportedly a decision of club president Marcelo Teixeira and is described as a new step in the close relationship between the player’s father, the player and the club.

The position had been vacant since May of last year, when Pedro Martins resigned. According to the report, Neymar’s father had already been working behind the scenes at Santos, helping secure a partnership to improve the locker rooms at the Vila Belmiro stadium and funding stand improvements.

The report says he also paid a transfer-related sum tied to the signing of Jean Lucas and received six advertising spaces on the Santos uniform in exchange, a deal described as worth R$ 12 million. It further states he led a fundraising effort of R$ 8 million to restructure the youth categories housed at the club’s training center.

Neymar’s father is also described as set to become president of the Instituto Meninos da Vila, which will manage the careers of youth players. The report notes he had previously acquired the rights to Pelé’s brand.

In a video posted on social media, he described the role as a way to help Santos through the end of the year and to plan for the next season. The report notes that an election is scheduled for December 12, with Marcelo Teixeira a candidate.

It raises unanswered questions, including whether a new president could demand repayment of funds invested by Neymar’s father and whether there would be a penalty for dismissing him.

The report also asks whether the player’s future at the club, which will be decided at the end of the year, could be influenced by his father’s dual role. The publication frames the central question as who controls whom between the player, his father and the club.
