Kobbie Mainoo Manchester United transfer speculation, Digi Mart USA News: Sources have shut down speculation that Kobbie Mainoo could leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, insisting the midfielder remains a highly valued member of Michael Carrick’s squad and that there are categorically no circumstances in which the club would allow him to leave.

The England international has faced more competition for places this season following an influx of summer midfield arrivals. He has nonetheless started five times in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League so far.

With United still reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield amid doubts over some of their summer investments, the Stockport-born player has been linked with a surprise January move to PSG should the club decide to sell. Sources confirm that interest in the player is genuine and not limited to PSG, with several sides reportedly keen to sign him if he were allowed to leave.

Those monitoring his situation have been told that any departure from Old Trafford would require a substantial fee, as United are determined to keep the academy graduate. Carrick, who is himself under intense pressure, continues to hold Mainoo in high regard and sees him as an important part of his midfield plans.

The manager has made clear that the 21-year-old has a defined role as the team looks to improve its form and compete on multiple fronts for the rest of the season. Club sources stress that Mainoo is not available for transfer and that any approach would need to meet an elevated valuation reflecting his potential and long-term importance.

The player’s situation has been under discussion for some time. He had restricted opportunities under former manager Ruben Amorim, leading to summer interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs.

The hierarchy at Old Trafford and Carrick believe keeping Mainoo offers greater value than sanctioning a mid-season exit, and retaining him is part of both short-term and longer-term squad plans.

Mainoo, who broke through impressively and has represented England at major tournaments, is still regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects. Although he has not yet played as consistently as he did during his breakthrough season under Erik ten Hag in 2023/24, those close to the situation say Carrick’s faith in him remains strong and that opportunities will come across the season.

Mainoo has expressed gratitude to Carrick for placing his trust in him. Speaking to The Independent earlier this week, he said: “I’m very grateful to the boss for putting the trust in me as soon as he came in, and putting that belief in me.” He added that he takes the manager’s advice to heart and applies it every day in training and in games.

Asked whether the players are fighting for their manager, Mainoo said: “Yeah, of course, and I feel like our way to repay that is to also be behind the manager on the pitch and off it, and fight for us as a team.” He added: “In these tough times you can’t expect the fans 100,000 per cent of the time to be happy and cheering when we’re not putting out results.

We owe it to them to put the results out there for them to cheer again.”

As the January window approaches, the message from the club is clear: Mainoo is staying. Only a significant bid would force United to reconsider, and even then the preference is firmly for the midfielder to remain at Old Trafford and help lead a resurgence over the second half of the season.
