JJ Gabriel transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid, Digi Mart USA News: Journalist Fabrizio Romano says he will soon be able to confirm a “here we go” on the prospective transfer of JJ Gabriel from Manchester United to Real Madrid. Romano revealed the update on YouTube, describing talks as entering their final stages.
Gabriel asked Manchester United to terminate his contract in September, feeling he had not been given the first-team opportunities he believes he deserves. United were never going to agree to ending his deal and instead tried to persuade the forward to reconsider.
Gabriel and his family have rejected those attempts and are determined to secure a move to an elite club abroad.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have all spoken with Gabriel’s camp, but Real Madrid have emerged as strong favorites for his signature. Romano said a verbal agreement between the 16-year-old and Madrid is “almost there.”
Romano said nothing would be officially signed or announced that week, and that formal steps would take more time. He said Gabriel’s camp had informed interested clubs that he had chosen Real Madrid, believing the club offered the best project.
Romano added that Madrid were being careful on the legal side, including when to sign and how to communicate with Manchester United, to avoid a legal battle between the clubs.
On Wednesday, David Ornstein reported that Gabriel is expected to sign for Madrid in January, on a long-term contract subject to FIFA regulations. In a separate interview with Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs was asked about the Gabriel situation and urged patience, noting that first-team football is very different from youth football and that young players need time to develop.
