Carey Price Reflects on Montreal Canadiens Legacy Ahead of Hockey Hall of Fame Induction

Carey Price Hockey Hall of Fame induction: The former Montreal Canadiens goalie, who now holds the franchise record for regular-season wins by a goalie, will be enshrined in Toronto on Nov. 9 alongside Patrice Bergeron, Pekka Rinne and others, reflecting on a career shaped by a remarkable run of accomplishments and a knee injury that ended his playing days.

Carey Price Hockey Hall of Fame induction, Digi Mart USA News: Carey Price has quietly climbed the all-time lists of the Montreal Canadiens, the NHL’s most storied franchise, and on Monday he will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as the winningest goalie in team history. The 2026 Hall of Fame induction is Nov. 9, and this year’s class also includes Patrice Bergeron, Cindy Curley, Pekka Rinne and Keith Tkachuk in the Players category, and Brian Burke in the Builders category.

Speaking from his home in Kelowna, British Columbia, Price said he has not yet fully absorbed the honor. “Honestly, I don’t think being in the Hall of Fame has hit me yet.

It probably won’t until I’m sitting there in November,” he said. He recalled learning of his election on June 22 while driving to Kamloops, British Columbia, when his grandmother had broken her leg, and said his mind was elsewhere at the time.

Price’s career included a Hart Memorial Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and William M. Jennings Trophy after his 2014-15 season, when he went 44-16-6 with nine shutouts, a 1.96 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

He also won Olympic gold for Canada at Sochi in 2014 and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey title. His Canadiens regular-season total of 361 victories is 47 more than the late Jacques Plante, and he finished his NHL career with a 361-261-79 record, a 2.51 goals-against average, a .917 save percentage and 49 shutouts.

Price was selected fifth overall by the Canadiens in the 2005 NHL Draft out of the Western Hockey League’s Tri-City Americans and turned professional in 2007. He won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2022 for perseverance and dedication to the sport, having played only five games that season while recovering from knee surgery.

He retired after the 2021-22 season, and in September 2025 he was traded to the San Jose Sharks in a salary-cap move.

The night after his induction, Price and his family will be honored on the ice at Bell Centre in Montreal, where his name will be added to the Ring of Honor. His portrait will also be added to the team’s dressing room and training rink.

Price said he hopes to stay involved with the Canadiens’ development of the next generation of goaltenders, but for now his focus is on his wife, Angela, and their three children.
