Borussia Dortmund vs SV Elversberg Bundesliga lineup, Digi Mart USA News: Borussia Dortmund sporting director Ole Book faces his former club, SV Elversberg, on Saturday. Book spent nine years with the Saarland club in various roles before joining BVB in March this year.
“Of course I have a history with Elversberg and I like the people there very much,” Book said. “But it’s not about how the sporting director sees it or where he once worked.
It is a Bundesliga match against a good opponent in front of 81,365 spectators.”
Dortmund and Bayern Munich, who are level on points, both play on the final matchday before the international break. Bayern visit FSV Mainz 05 at the same time, so the two clubs are effectively battling for first place in a head-to-head race.
After a 2-1 win over Real Betis Sevilla in the Champions League, coach Niko Kovac made three changes to the starting lineup. Joane Gadou, Konstantinos Karetsas and Carney Chukwuemeka come in for Ramy Bensebaini, Julian Ryerson and Serhou Guirassy, who is nursing a strained muscle.
Kovac is using a back four in defense this time.
Guirassy was substituted on Wednesday against Betis Sevilla with a knock. He has scored eight competitive goals for BVB this season.
Midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who had been ill, has returned to training and will start on the bench.
Jobe Bellingham, whom Thomas Tuchel has selected for England’s national team for the first time, is in the starting lineup. Kovac praised the 21-year-old, saying, “He has earned that.
The development he has made is very big. He has invested a lot and he is very diligent.” Kovac added that Bellingham could become “a very, very great player” thanks to his attitude.
