Thomas Markle Mexico storage unit raid child abuse material investigation, Digi Mart USA News (Baja California, Mexico): Mexican authorities raided a storage unit rented by Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, as part of an investigation into allegations that he stored child sexual abuse images. Markle denies the accusations.
Prosecutors told AFP on Monday that the raid was carried out in connection with the probe.
The Baja California state prosecutor’s office said it received an anonymous complaint about the presence of “child pornography material” in a storage unit rented by the retired cinematographer. According to the investigation, the unit’s owner said Markle had stopped paying rent in 2024, but the unit remained under guard.
Authorities said they found “magazines of Asian origin” at the site that date back about 20 years, without specifying their content. They also seized computer equipment, which is being transferred to the federal prosecutor’s office.
The raid follows reports last week from Philippine police that they had found images of child abuse in a former home in the Asian country belonging to Thomas Markle, who is 82. He had lived in Mexico before moving to the Philippines in 2025.
Markle, speaking from the United States, rejected the accusations in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Mail, calling them “a bunch of lies.”
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, said on Friday that she was “deeply shocked” by the revelation of the investigation into her father over alleged possession of child abuse images. She had cut off all contact with him since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
In a statement, she said she learned six years ago of a letter sent to British police containing “worrying allegations” against her father, and that her estrangement was motivated by the need to “protect” her two children.
The couple left the United Kingdom abruptly in 2020 amid clashes with the royal family, and they are no longer active members, but they returned to the country in late August.
