Heavy Rain and Extreme Heat Forecast Across Mexico as Cold Front No. 4 Advances

Mexico weather forecast heavy rain and extreme heat: the National Meteorological Service warns of heavy rainfall of 25 to 50 millimeters in parts of northeastern, western, southern and southeastern Mexico, while maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius are expected in several states.

Mexico weather forecast heavy rain and extreme heat, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Weather conditions will vary sharply across different regions of Mexico this Thursday, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN). A high-altitude trough, moisture from both coasts, and cold front No. 4 are expected to bring heavy rain, showers and isolated precipitation, while other states will keep elevated temperatures.

The SMN said the main effects will concentrate in the northeast, west, south and southeast of the country, and authorities maintain monitoring for possible damage caused by the rainfall. The agency forecast localized heavy rain of 25 to 50 millimeters in northern Tamaulipas, southeastern Guerrero, southwestern Oaxaca, southern Veracruz and southern Chiapas.

These precipitation events are linked to several atmospheric phenomena. In the west and south, a high-altitude trough will interact with moisture from the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, while in the northeast cold front No. 4 will advance together with a low-pressure channel and another upper-level trough.

Showers of 5 to 25 millimeters are also expected in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Puebla, State of Mexico and Morelos.

Isolated rainfall of 0.1 to 5 millimeters could occur in Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Mexico City, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo. Although precipitation will be present across much of the national territory, high temperatures will persist in several states.

The SMN predicts maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius in central and coastal areas of Michoacán, southeastern Oaxaca, western Chiapas and central Tamaulipas. Values of 30 to 35 degrees are expected in Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Guerrero, Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

In contrast, minimum temperatures will drop to -5 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua and Durango. Readings between zero and five degrees are also expected in mountainous regions of Sonora, Zacatecas, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla.

The forecast includes winds of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with gusts of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, in Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Oaxaca. Sea conditions include swells of two to three meters on the western coast of the Baja California peninsula, and one to two meters on the coasts of Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán.

The SMN warned that heavy rain could be accompanied by lightning, gusts of wind and hail, conditions that may cause rivers and streams to rise. The main risks include flooding in low-lying areas, waterlogging and landslides, especially in regions vulnerable to intense precipitation.

Wind gusts could also bring down trees and billboards, while fog banks represent an additional danger by reducing visibility on roads and in urban areas. Residents are advised to stay alert to official warnings, avoid crossing water currents, take extra care when driving and follow instructions from Civil Protection authorities.
