México Fantástico horror film showcase at Indistinto Foro Cultural Autogestivo in Durango, Digi Mart USA News (Durango, Mexico): Independent cinema, ghost legends and suspense will take over the local screen with the arrival of “México Fantástico,” a touring showcase of Mexican horror short films and extraordinary stories presented in collaboration with the well-known Horror en las Montañas Festival.

The special screening will take place this Thursday, November 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Indistinto Foro Cultural Autogestivo.

The program features a range of cinematic works from both local and national filmmakers. It offers an opportunity to discover new stories and horror filmmaking produced in Mexico.

The evening opens with two locally produced films that highlight the dynamism and audiovisual talent of the region. “Al otro lado” (directed by Luis Niebla) uses a dark, gloomy atmosphere to depict a man tormented by visions from the afterlife.

“Horrendo” (directed by Brandon Alvarado) follows Osvaldo, a successful model who is left disfigured after a tragic car accident.

The national selection includes “El Hueco,” in which Juan, a mountain woodcutter and baker, crosses paths with Wzio, an unknown child carrying a disturbing message. “Una torreta en llamas” follows a wounded soldier who is assisted by a peasant woman and her granddaughter in the mountains, sparking suspicion and tension among the refugees.

Other titles include “Pandora,” about Sandra, a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage and isolated in the forest, whose fate changes after she meets Pandora on her birthday. “Agustín” centers on a priest assigned to sabotage a concert by the band “Lola y sus Heraldos,” only to discover that suspicions of satanism go far beyond the band’s lyrics.

“El brazo de Don Acacio” explores the mysterious disappearance of Ramoncito, which revives a tragic family curse dating back generations.

The program also includes “Gourmet,” an animated and unsettling work in which an adorable white rabbit passionate about cooking invites his friend Porcupine to a dinner full of unexpected surprises. “Vagón de medianoche” rounds out the lineup with a woman caught in the routine of the subway who falls into a deep sleep, where strange beings drag her into an alternate reality.
