George Harrison’s Connection to Mexico and Spiritual Reflections, Digi Mart USA News: George Harrison, a member of the legendary British band The Beatles, left a lasting mark on music but also a story defined by his spiritual search and his interest in understanding the true meaning of life.
Although his career was surrounded by fame and success, Harrison found in the philosophy and religious traditions of India a different way of looking at the world. His approach to Hinduism and his devotion to Krishna deeply influenced his music and personal life.
In his final years, the musician reflected on the importance of leaving behind material concerns, valuing love, and recognizing that happiness is not necessarily found in wealth or fame, but in a simpler and more conscious existence.
His relationship with Mexico also held a special place in his story. In 1978 he married Olivia Arias, an American of Mexican descent whose grandparents came from Guanajuato.
Through her, Harrison developed a deep appreciation for Mexican music and cinema. He admired Jorge Negrete and enjoyed playing the guitar while listening to Los Panchos.
He even recorded his in-laws performing traditional Mexican songs.
Before his death on November 29, 2001, at the age of 58, Harrison left a spiritual message that his family later shared publicly: “Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait. Love one another.”
